Dirty air ducts have been
identified as a major source of indoor air pollution. In
fact, an air duct system is a breeding ground for bacteria,
animal dander, mold and dust mites. These impurities can
aggravate asthma, allergies, breathing difficulties,
and even cause infections and disease.
Dirty air ducts increase
air friction, slowing air flow, and also contaminate coils,
blowers, and other components of your unit. This can
decrease your system's efficiency, potentially shorten the
life of your unit and cost you money every month.
Damaged
duct work caused by rodents or deterioriation can cause a
myriad of problems. Openings left by these and other sources
in your duct system gives other animals access to your home
and can leave behind insect and animal feces in your duct
work (also referred to as "duck" work).
Damage
to your HVAC duct system can also allow an increased amount
of moisture to enter into your air ducts. This can cause
mold and bacteria to build up and circulate through your
vents into your home or office. |
